Rainbows ELC Philosophy

Our Philosophy

Welcoming you into our family…

Rainbows educators believe it is our role to work with families, communities and services to facilitate children’s learning to ensure they reach their full potential. We believe a child’s early years determine much of their future development. Childhood only happens once in a lifetime, we strive to allow the children to be in a moment significant to them.

Building Genuine Relationships Is Important To Us

Developing positive, open, reciprocal relationships with families is a practice we strive for daily. Families are children’s first educators and by collaborating together we all share and gain constructive knowledge of a child and can therefore develop a meaningful relationship with them.

Whether it be building relationships with children, educators, families or the community we understand how important it is to create a sense of belonging for everyone.

Community engagement and involvement is essential for children to develop and belong.

Promoting a sense of place and connection to the community and the environment is beneficial to all children’s development.

Learning To Respect and Nurture Our Environment

We believe teaching children to appreciate and have respect for our natural environment is an important part of early childhood education.

We take pride and responsibility for our environment and strive to enhance learning and understanding in children and families about environmental awareness and sustainability.

We have a unique opportunity to instil a love for the natural world in our children through hands on environmental experiences at Rainbows Early Learning Centre.

We Teach Awareness And Respect For Different Cultures

Children’s learning is influenced not only by their past experiences, but also by family, communities and cultures.

We embrace and advocate for the children to be involved acknowledged, appreciated and accepting of different cultures especially our Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and histories.

Diversity is explored through different learning environments, activities and celebrations encouraging awareness and respect.

We Have High Expectations For All Children To Reach Their Full Potential

All children are supported by educators to achieve developmental milestones. We recognise that all children learn in a variety of ways and each vary in their abilities and pace of learning. We understand that children mature at different rates and have preferred styles of learning.

Children are encouraged to develop their sense of agency and are given realistic responsibilities. Educators have high expectations of all children to participate in our educational program to their full potential.

Our aim is to function as an extended family in order to provide your child with the security, warmth and love which are essential to their development and growth.

We Love To Incorporate The Community In Our Learning Program

We believe that children learn from their environment and their surroundings. We strive to encourage children to be involved in their communities’ as well as invite people from the community into our centre.

We believe that involving the children in their community will help them to create a higher understanding of their world around them.

We will provide children, families and educators a sense of belonging to the community in which they live.
